The Father’s Power: His Perfect Advice

September 13, 2016 Posted by Margo Fieseler Devotionals

“Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us.
Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out.
God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do.”
Romans 15:1-2,4 MSG

Do you help others who are struggling? Who have faltered? Who need a strong arm to lean on?

Well, the only way you will be able to help them is by YOU being strong and able. Not physically. But a “muscleman” in your faith!

You need to be farther along in your faith. A faith that knows-that-you-know that God always keeps His promises. And with an unwavering faith like that, you simply lead the hurting soul back to life! Just like Jesus did! He walked right into a person’s problem and asked, “How can I help?” He didn’t make it easy on Himself by avoiding their troubles.

He knew what they needed. He knew whatever it was that He had the answer. He had the promise.

See, that’s where our strong and able faith says, “No matter what your trouble, I will take you to the answer. His name is Jesus! And He hasn’t failed me yet!!'”

The reason you can share such hope is because you know what He has done for you. Your faith has grown leaps and bounds as you search the Scriptures. You can give personal counsel as you lead them to His Word.

See, the key to actually helping others is not about giving them YOUR advice. It’s about using your grown-up faith and leading them to God’s Word. He will give them His perfect advice. Just like He has done with you!!

Then, you’ll be characterized as a Godly helper. Walking in God’s strength. Not concerned about your status. Just one who is known for your warm, personal counsel from God’s Word.

And as you are helping the next person and the next and the next, you are on-the-alert. You see how God is working and you’re ready for whatever He has for you to do.

FROM THE COMMUNUTY

Yesterday my mom fell again walking outdoors at her apartment…She is okay & was released from hospital after a few hours. On the drive to West Bend after we got the call…I found complete peace just loving my God & knowing He was in control of the situation no matter what it was. And then reading your devotion today made my heart cry out with a love for Him that can’t be put into words.
Thank you & thank you & thank you for listening & obeying the Lord.
