The Father’s Promise: He Is For You

Oct 30, 2018 | Posted by Margo Fieseler | Devotionals |
“People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.”
Isaiah 26:2-4
There are two certainties in life: death and taxes. That statement has been tossed about for years. Even though it’s true, it certainly doesn’t create a feeling of goodwill as you go about your day. It reminds you that you’re aging…your body is decaying. Plus, a good sum of your hard earned money goes to Uncle Sam. Ugh.
But the major prophet, Isaiah, leads us to Thee Absolute Certainty we can hang onto: “Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.” Those sweet morsels of truth teach us to live “above the line” with our minds set on God. That’s no wishy washy thinking. Our thoughts don’t ebb and flow like the waves of the sea. We know whom we have believed!
Our eyes are fixed. Our minds are set. Set on God. Not set on our fallen world circumstances swirling about us. When we see our circumstances through the sovereign hand of God, we know everything that happens is for our good and His glory. Everything. That’s why in the midst of a storm, we are steady on our feet. We keep on keepin’ on. We never quit because our minds are set. We have peace.
The NIV translation of Isaiah 26:3 says,
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
So no matter what “certainties” of life come along, and they will, we have absolute assurance, as we fully depend (trust) in God, that His perfect peace will reign in and through us. That’s a God promise.
Are you living in His perfect peace? When your mind is set on His Word; when you know His promises; when you know He is for you, then no matter what comes along…even death or taxes…you are certain that in the Lord God you have a sure thing.

FROM THE COMMUNUTY

Yesterday my mom fell again walking outdoors at her apartment…She is okay & was released from hospital after a few hours. On the drive to West Bend after we got the call…I found complete peace just loving my God & knowing He was in control of the situation no matter what it was. And then reading your devotion today made my heart cry out with a love for Him that can’t be put into words.
Thank you & thank you & thank you for listening & obeying the Lord.
