The Father’s Sight: It Matters
“Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we’ll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus!”Romans 15: 4-6 MSG
Do you know God’s Word? Do you think it’s written for you today or do you think it’s a relic?
God, boldly and in His loving kindness, asks you to try it out for yourself. It’s written for then; for each generation; and for now. So dig in. Let His Words speak into the very depths of your heart, soul, mind and strength.
Remember, the Bible is the only book as you read it…it reads you! The LIVING Word of God. No other book has His power and authority, plus His love, mercy and grace draped all over it. We can’t help but respond to His voice. Oh, but how we respond will matter forever.
It matters right now as His warm, personal counsel begins to characterize what we think, do and say. We become attentive to His voice, keeping us alert for whatever He will do next.
It matters later, as His maturity develops in us, so we can see others through the compassionate eyes of Jesus, drawing them to Christ through our words and deeds. Because our words have become His words. Our deeds, His deeds. Our thoughts. His thoughts.
And…it matters when all is said and done. You have run the race; kept the faith; and finished well. How? By pursuing His Word, which has transformed you, through the years, into the likeness of His Son.
